About this Barbados tour.
A tour for travellers who like to understand a place. It links the historic south of the island, around Bridgetown and the Garrison, with the settlement stories of the west coast.
Expect colour, architecture and plenty of context from a local guide, at a pace that leaves room for photographs and questions.
What you’ll see and do.
Garrison Savannah
Once the parade ground of the British garrison and now the island's horse-racing track, ringed by historic military buildings.
George Washington House
The Garrison house where a young George Washington stayed in 1751, on the only trip he ever made outside mainland America.
Historic Bridgetown
The capital and its Garrison are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your guide brings the Parliament Buildings, the Careenage and the old trading streets to life with the stories behind them.
Holetown & Rock Hall
From Holetown, the site of the first English settlement, the route turns inland to Rock Hall in St Thomas, regarded as the first free village in Barbados.
Stops and timings can vary on the day with weather, traffic and cruise schedules. Your guide will keep you informed.
Good to know.
We collect you from your hotel, villa or the Bridgetown cruise port and bring you back afterwards. If you are arriving by ship, tell us your ship name and all-aboard time when you book and we will plan the return around it.
